Abstract:
This article explores the influences of Islam and Hindu traditions on Sundanese culture. This article is a historical analysis with cultural approach. conventional views tell us that the acculturation and assimilation of Hindu and Islam into Sundanese traditions created in such a way through the time runs. In fact, the process is not as simple as what many people say. Sunda and Sunda land have a very long history. Its civilization had already established before the Ice Age melted and separated the land into islands. At that time, Sunda land was the center of civilization with its own religion and belief. The Sundanese Wiwitan is a kind of belief that is quite similar with abrahamic tradition, and it is believed rooted to Adam. So, the process of assimilation of Hindu and Islam runs very smoothly.
